Margarita Grill, in Glen, is hosting the “Week of Mead” going through Saturday, Jan. 28. Margarita Grill will offer a tapas-style pairing all week with three plates matched with three different Sap House meads: Hopped Blueberry, Vanilla Bean and the award-winning Sugar Maple.

North Conway’s, The Local Grocer’s “Local Sustainability Celebration” on Friday, Jan. 27, from 5-7 p.m. Visitors can try Sap House’s meads, as well as other local businesses’ offerings including wine, beer, baked goods and more.

“It’s really exciting, as a business that is focused on local economy and sustainability, to get an opportunity to work with and promote other like-minded companies,” said Matt Trahan, co-owner of Sap House Meadery. “Partnerships like these are one more step toward building the local, sustainable economy that the region has such potential for.”

Margarita Grill and The Local Grocer were named “Environmental Champions” by the New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Association for their efforts to be environmentally friendly. Both businesses, along with Sap House Meadery, are members of the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Sap House Meadery has created award-winning, hand-crafted meads since 2010. It prides itself on only using fresh, local ingredients while using time-tested, traditional methods to make the finest mead.

January 28th, 29th and 30th

The snow covered Black Mountain Resort and the Village of Jackson New Hampshire is preparing for one of it’s favorite events of the year: The 11th New Hampshire Sanctioned & Jackson Invitational Snow Sculpting competition. Beginning at noon on Friday January 27th teams from all over the Northeastern part of the United States will converge on this quintessential New England family mountain village. Sculpting will begin on Friday the 27th, continue through the weekend and finishing by noon on Sunday the 29th.

Spectators are welcome to view the entire process but to see finished pieces we highly recommend you come back on Sunday the 29th. These amazing sculptures, frozen in time, will remain on display for at least a week after the event giving visitors ample time to get coveted photos. At night, during the event, the Sculptures are lit up giving them an entirely different perspective. With more than a dozen teams expected this year the viewing promises to be spectacular!

Jackson is surrounded by 750,000 acres of the White Mountain National Forest and has held a special attraction for visitors for over 200 years that has reached around the globe. The area’s landscape is picturesque, complete with a Historic Covered Bride, White Steeple Churches, Mountains and Rolling Farm Land. Combine that with a diverse selection of Lodging, Dining and Attractions, Jackson is a major four season resort destination and just the right place for this Grand Event.

There will be a bon fire for roasting of marshmallows, possibly a torch light parade, a scavenger hunt, and more planned throughout the event. The admission for viewing is free, ski tickets sold separately and we highly recommend the skiing.
