About the Snow!

This Week: Ho Ho Snow-making!

Santa visited in his “coaster-sleigh” stuffed with snowmaking temperatures!
Santa on the Attitash Mountain CoasterLast weekend, Santa Claus gave his reindeer a break and took a spin on the Attitash Mountain Coaster. It also looks like Santa brought some North Pole weather with him as the snowmakers have been hard at work throughout the Mt. Washington Valley.

Subscribe, Snap and Win!

We want to thank you for subscribing to “About the Snow.” And what better way to say thanks than free skiing!?!?

Weekly ticket and trail passes will be awarded randomly to chamber newsletter readers. Additionally, each month one lucky photographer will receive a prize package with lift tickets and gift certificates for entering the best photo submitted into the monthly photo contest.

Each week a name will be drawn randomly from those who’ve signed up to receive the monthly E-Traveler newsletter or the weekly ABOUT THE SNOW newsletter.  Winners will be announced on the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Each Monday, a new prize is posted on the Mt Washington Valley’s Contest page on the website.  Each Friday, one lucky winner is drawn randomly to win the weekly prize. Prizes include pairs of lift tickets to one of the Valley 7 ski resorts, 6 XC Centers or other winter adventure opportunities.

Each month, a different prize package will be offered combining lift tickets or trail passes with gift certificates to restaurants and stores in Mt Washington Valley.  All photos are accepted, and those depicting winter adventure, family fun in the snow or even fun with Fido are all encouraged. The zanier, the better.  Post your photos on the special Photo Contest tab on the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Weather Report

To sum it up: snowmaking, snowmaking, snowmaking!

Elevation is going to play a factor in today’s precipitation, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for snow throughout the Mt. Washington Valley. Hopefully, the Nordic centers will get a coating to get out grooming, and the alpine resorts can add to their base depths. Then, once Friday comes along the snowguns should be firing far and wide. Resorts will start opening more trails as fast as they can.

Looking further down the road, Matt Noyes of NECN is predicting a better than a 50/50 chance for a White Christmas throughout New England. And, that means an even better chance for the Mt. Washington Valley. It looks like those snow dances are paying off!

Weather and snowmaking updates can always be found on the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
