Take part in a Basic Survival Skills class with Outdoor Escapes NH Guide Services in Holderness, NH, Nov. 15th, 8-5pm.
Do you want to get into nature (or know someone who does)? Could you handle an emergency and survive in the outdoors? With this course you will learn what to do if you are lost, how to build a shelter, make a fire, signal for help, purify water, get your own food, and how to recognize and treat hypothermia. Includes cooking your own lunch outdoors and map & compass skills.
This hands-on workshop is geared for those women and girls who wish to spend time outdoors in any season in New England, particularly in the mountain and river areas of the Northern Forest. Bring/Wear: Backpack, favorite energy snacks, reusable water bottle (filled), proper footwear (hiking boots), spare clothes & shoes, and layers of synthetic or wool clothing for the season, including waterproof outer layer.
What to Expect: Spending the day outdoors, paced with a healthy balance of some walking around in the woods and lots of learning how to use tools, knowledge, and other resources while building, making, and doing things, individually and as a team. Fitness rating is “gentle.”
