Pre-Christmas Fun in
Mt. Washington Valley, NH

With as much as 55 inches of natural snowfall logged

Attitash Mountain is open
and ready to welcome you.

in already, the Mt. Washington Valley is settling into winter quite comfortably. Snowmobiles are revving their engines, horses are pulling sleighs and nearly all of the thirteen Mt Washington Valley Alpine and Nordic ski centers are open for the season.  We’ve created a full line-up of pre-Christmas highlights at the Valley’s resorts and XC Centers.

MWV Ice Fest, 2015

Mt. Washington Valley, NH offers some of the best ice climbing in the Northeast, so it is no wonder that the valley is also home to many distinguished climbing schools including the Eastern Mountain Sports Climbing School and International Mountain Equipment’s school and Northeast Mountaineering.

If it is an ice-climbing adventure you are looking for, look no further than the signature ice climbing event in Mt Washington Valley, IceFest 2015.

Ice Fest celebrates the adventure, fun and camaraderie of ice climbing. Climbers of all abilities are able to network and socialize with fellow climbers, try new gear and participate in multiple day courses, technical clinics and privately guided climbs in a location ideal for all ability levels.

Where the Deals Are

Bretton Woods is offering two-for-one specials on Wednesdays where two people can ski or snowboard for one price of $75. The ski resort is also hiding prizes on the mountain in celebration of being ranked #1 in the East for Grooming. All season long find one of their lucky viewers and take a peak inside and see what you have won. Bring your viewer to the Base Lodge to redeem your prize.

Jackson Ski Touring Foundation is offering a “Super Saver Package, which includes, a one day equipment rental package, a 1 hour Beginner’s Lesson and a one-day membership which gives you use of all the trails all day for only $45, which is a 15%) and only $35 after 1:15 pm.

Ski and Stay

For last minute travelers, fear not. There are still great lodging deals and holiday availability at many of Mt. Washington Valley’s lodging properties during Christmas Vacation Week and New Years. We have compiled a list of inns, motels, hotels and resorts with open rooms, ready to welcome you.

Many properties offer “ski and stay” packages such as Attitash Grand Summit in Bartlett, which has various sized rooms available during the Christmas holiday, perfect for your family getaway. They even offer a shuttle service from the hotel to Attitash Mountain Resort and Bear Peak.

Or book with RiverWood Inn in Jackson and enjoy rooms with King or Queen beds and hot tubs.


Darby Field Inn in Albany has rooms available and is offering a New Year’s Eve package that includes a 5-course dinner.

Reward yourself after a great day of skiing with great apres-ski specials on food and beer. Enjoy the holiday cheer at all the valley’s dining establishments with open houses, beer tastings, live music, dining specials and more.

The Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery offers a great deal on their fleet of hand-crafted brews. Try a 7 beer taster for $7, which includes some of their classics such as Ms. V’s Blueberry, Iron Mike Pale Ale and Bone Shaker Brown Ale. The Moat is also a great spot to refuel after a great day of hitting the slopes.

We know how much you love apres-ski, but what about pre-ski brunch? Sample every item from the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at the Red Fox Bar and Grill in Jackson for $7.95. Take-on a spread of custom-made omelets, waffle station, carving station, fruit bar and more. Of course, don’t forget the crafted brunch cocktails such as a Bloody Mary and the Red Fox Mimosa.
