AS PART OF CONWAY PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT JULY 4TH FESTIVITIES
The second annual Chili Dog Fund Raiser to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project will kick off Saturday, July 4, 2015 in Schouler Park, located on White Mountain Highway in North Conway Village, N.H. Produced by Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli, the benefit event is featured as part of the July 4th holiday festivities produced by Conway Parks and Recreation Department.
The Town of Conway 4th of July Celebration holiday festivities begin with a parade at noon at Conway Village, then moves to Schouler Park for the Presentation of Colors at 3 p.m., entertainment by Tina Titzer’s School of Dance will begin at 3:15 p.m., a Chili Dog Eating Contest produced by Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli will begin at 4:15 p.m., with the featured fireworks beginning at 9:30 p.m.
“Last year was our inaugural event and we were unsure how it would work, but to my delight it was fun and exciting, and the spectators loved it. The town has now decided to make it a yearly tradition,” said Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli owner David Hausman, who is also producing the chili dog portion of the festivities.
“There are two real purposes to what we are doing,” Hausman said. “One is obviously to raise needed money for young men and women who have sacrificed for our country and have returned home with wounds, both internal and external. Perhaps a larger goal is to increase awareness that we have people in harm’s way every day, and that we have an obligation to care for them upon their return,” Hausman said.
To benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli will also produce a Chili Dog Eating Contest. The contest costs $25 per person with applications available now at Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli, located at 1130 Eastman Rd., North Conway, N.H. Each applicant will receive a t-shirt and all the chili dogs one can eat. Prizes will be awarded to Biggest Fundraiser, Biggest Eater, and Most Creative Eater.
Big Dave’s Bagels & Deli will also begin serving chili dogs and will begin selling event t-shirts to the public at 3 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.
