For the second consecutive year Santa’s Village has been honored as one of the top twenty-five amusement parks in the United States. The children’s theme park in Jefferson, New Hampshire, earned the nineteenth spot in the Travelers’ Choice awards from contributors to TripAdvisor, the consumer-review web site for destinations worldwide. TripAdvisor describes Travelers’ Choice winners as, “Millions of reviews. Nothing but the best.”
With an approval rating of over ninety-six percent from its reviewers, Santa’s Village is once again the only New England park to make the list. The nation’s largest park operators dominate the rankings, including Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, Sea World, and Six Flags. Santa’s Village opened in 1953, two years before Disneyland, and is now in its third generation of ownership and management by its founding family. Over more than sixty years of operation it has continued to evolve into a modern children’s theme park while maintaining its rural charm and evergreen forest setting. Visiting with Santa and his reindeer in their summer home is complemented by dozens of additional attractions: family amusement rides, live performances and theater shows, gift shops, flower gardens, a children’s water park, and numerous dining options with homemade items such as gingerbread cookies and ice cream.
Santa’s Village is located at 528 Presidential Highway, in Jefferson, NH. Its season stretches from late May to mid December, and the all-inclusive admission fee in 2015 is $30 per person for ages four and above. The phone number is 603-586-4445, and the web site is santasvillage.com.
