Medallion Opera House presents Doyle Dykes

The Gorham Police Association is pleased to be presenting a benefit concert with guitarist Doyle Dykes on Saturday, August 15, at 7 pm at the Medallion Opera House, Gorham Town Hall, 20 Park St, Gorham. Dykes is widely considered to be one of the finest finger-style guitarists of all time.

Dykes is legendary among serious guitar fans. Some of the most well-known companies in the industry have produced Doyle Dykes signature gear including special design guitars, amplifiers, and even custom guitar strings. With a dozen CDs to his credit, his music is inspired by such artists as Chet Atkins, The Beatles, Merle Travis, Duane Eddy, and U2. Dykes has performed on stage and in the studio with countless stars including Grampa Jones at the Grand Ole Opry, Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Johnson, Peter Frampton, and Tommy Emmanuel, to name a few. Dykes has also authored instructional volumes as well as his own life story, “The Lights of Marfa”. “At his last appearance here at the Medallion, Mr. Dykes performed the Lynard Skynard tune, Free Bird, on a 12-string guitar. It was absolutely phenomenal!! We’re thrilled to have Doyle back for another concert.” said Denise Vallee of the Medallion Opera House Committee.

Chet Atkins named Doyle Dykes as the guitarist he’d pay money to see perform.

Dykes will be performing to help raise funding and awareness for the Child Advocacy Center of Coos County. The CAC as it is known, works tirelessly to aid, protect, and assist victims in all manners of child abuse throughout the county. In 2014 alone, the CAC provided services to 75 families affected by alleged child abuse.

Special thanks are due to the sponsors who have made the event possible: Labonville Clothing and Accessories, Berlin City Auto Group and the White Mountain Cafe and Bookstore.
