Even though it’s the middle of winter, Arts Jubilee is deep into planning for its annual series of outdoor summer concerts. The public is invited to help fund these outdoor family-friendly shows at a fundraiser at Flatbread Company in the historic Eastern Slope Inn building on Main Street North Conway, NH on Tuesday, February 16th from 4 – 9 p.m. Flatbread Company is generously donating a portion of all pizza revenue, eat in or take out, during the evening to benefit Arts Jubilee’s 2016 Summer Concert Series.
Entering its 34th season, Arts Jubilee is staging a 5-week summer concert series which runs weekly on Thursday nights from July 14th through August 11th, hosted at Cranmore Mountain, North Conway. Performances this season will pay tribute to many famous groups, including the music of the Beach Boys (July 14) and the music of Simon & Garfunkel (July 21). Music of the 60s will be highlighted on July 28, with Roots, Rock & Soul taking the stage on Aug. 4. The series will culminate with the traditional Pops Concert including fireworks on August 11th.
Arts Jubilee counts on the generosity of its community in order to offer these shows. Fundraisers, such as the one coming up on February 16, at Flatbread, is just one way to support the cause. Cranmore Mountain has generously offered to donate the proceeds from their famous s’more kits during February Vacation Week on February 15th and 16th to benefit them as well.
Cindy Russell, Executive Director, shared, “We have been able to maintain a fairly level budget over the past two seasons, but it should be noted that the positive financial success is a combined result of not only larger audiences, but continued assistance from both the community and the granting foundations who have been so generous and supportive of our mission.”
“No matter what your specific musical tastes may be, these concerts will be fun for everyone and continue to be family-friendly in every way,” Russell continued. “We have a special theme for each of the five concerts and we’re truly excited to present our concerts for five consecutive Thursday nights this summer for residents and visitors to the valley.”
The Arts Jubilee mission is to bring live performing arts rarely found outside metropolitan centers to the residents and visitors of the greater Mt. Washington Valley. The concerts offer family-friendly admission and entertainment for all ages. Arts Jubilee provides cultural capital to the greater community by offering access to children and adults to various types of live performances throughout the summer and through an arts in the schools program offered to public schools each year. In order to highlight local musical talent, Arts Jubilee traditionally offers an early concert at each of the five performances featuring professional musicians who deserve to be spotlighted for their talent.
