Doug Fichera, Liz York and Paul Doucette are joining the year round management staff at Black Mountain.
Black Mountain is a family owned and operated ski area in Jackson, NH. It has been in continual operation since 1935, and has 145 skiable acres. Black also offers a mountain side horseback riding program, including overnight horseback adventures.
Doug Fichera has joined the team as Mountain Manager. Doug grew up here on the mountain, and in coming back home he brings an immense amount of skill and passion to the team. He has been working in the ski industry since he was 8 years old, and after obtaining a BS in Business, he worked at a few large Vermont ski areas to hone his skills before returning home to the family business. “After working at several other places, I’m so happy to be back where it all started for me, and to be able to bring home new skills and knowledge to put to use here” –Doug Fichera
Liz York has joined the team as our Operations Manager. Liz worked at Black from 2006-2010 managing the horseback riding operation, as well as the administrative aspects in the winter. More recently she opened and perfected a dog daycare facility, and has now returned with new skills and knowledge that she gained as a business owner. “I am so happy to return to Black, I love the community here. We all work so hard for the love of it, it’s amazing feeling.” –Liz York
Paul Doucette has joined the team as Maintenance Manager. He is no stranger to the mountain; he grew up skiing here with his family. He has worked in IT, marine maintenance, and most recently relocated from a major Vermont resort. Paul met Doug in the ski industry in 2012, and has answered the call to come back to where it all began. “I’ve always been a fan of independent ski areas, and when the chance came up to be heavily involved at a place with such emotional attachment, I jumped right on board.” –Paul Doucette
After a difficult winter weather-wise, it is very important for Black to stay on top of its game. “I’m so excited for our future, I couldn’t ask for a better team. Being a small, weather dependant business, there are a lot of challenges, but the new knowledge and experience coming to the table will really shake things up.” –John Fichera, General Manager. The new management team is committed to provide an excellent experience for the guests at Black, from high quality snow surfaces to exciting, scenic horseback rides. The horseback program is opening June 17th for daily guided horseback rides, as well as pony rides, lessons and overnight adventures. Please check out our website at http://www.blackmt.com
