Apres Ski and live entertainment in Mt Washington Valley, NH –March 15 – April 1, 2018

When the lifts close, the apres ski fun begins.  For some, it lasts well into the night.  Whether its live musical entertainment at ski resorts or the Valley’s restaurants or drama, family activities or on-mountain events, you’ll find a packed schedule of during-and-apres ski fun throughout Mt Washington Valley.

March 16:  Red Parka Challenge Cup: The Red Parka Pub Challenge Cup is the longest-running, pro-style dual giant slalom ski race in the United States. Considered the premier New England Amateur ski race, the RPP Challenge Cup attracts some of the best racers in the region. All proceeds from the race benefit the Eastern Slopes Ski Club, a local organization that funds youth skiing in the Mt. Washington Valley. The Red Parka Pub Challenge Cup stems from the Red Parka Pub, located in Downtown Glen, New Hampshire. The restaurant opened its doors in 1973 and along with the pub came the birth of the first Red Parka Pub Challenge Cup. Registration: More information on the race at redparkapubchallengecup.com.

March 17:  Attitash After Dark with  Adam Ezra Group:  It starts with fireworks at 7:00pm, then festivities continue with a special pub menu and the Adam Ezra Group at Ptarmigan Pub for evening entertainment.

March 24:  Grandstand Mogul Jam: Compete in the best of two-run format.  Open to all levels of competition.  Info here.

March 31: Pond skimming at Attitash:  A rite of passage and an great way to celebrate spring.  Cross the pond with skis or snowboards.  Not sure that’s for you? It’s a great spectator event too.  Info here.

March 17 Cranapalooza: Enjoy apres ski music, entertainment and games hosted by none other than North Conway’s favorite penguin, C-More. On March 10, Cranapalooza celebration is topped off with fireworks too!

March 17: St Paddy’s Day ticket special: On St. Patrick’s Day, the resort will offer a $17 twilight lift ticket, valid for skiing from 5pm to 8pm or a $17 Tubing and Mountain Adventure Park ticket, during the hours of 5pm to 8pm.

March 24:  Flannel Festival: Show your NH pride for a day of Flannel skiing! At 10:00am to 12:00PM – Music from country 102.5 and Hood MOOSTRUCK and  hot chocolate samples. At 1:00pm – Beard and helmet hair judging competition – meet on Zip’s deck. At 1:00-4:00pm – Live Music with Riley Parkhurst Duo in Zip’s and beer promos in Zip’s Live music by Riley Parkhurst Duo, and other events.

March 31:  Spring Festival: The annual Spring Splash opens the competition to brave participants, competing for prizes and bragging rights. Prizes will be awarded to best costume, best splash, & best skim.  Each person will have one run.  There will be two divisions for splash and skim, 13 & under, 14+. Click here for rules and info.

Apres ski at Bretton Woods Ski Resort

 March 17, 24: Adult Apres Ski Party, 3:00-5:50pm: When you’re finished with a great day on the trails, head to the 3rd floor and listen to some après ski entertainment. Try a new brew at Slopeside Pub located on the 3rd level of the Bretton Woods Base Lodge. Entertainment will be from 3:00pm-5:30pm and Bar Promos are from 3:00pm-5:00pm. On March 17: DJ Chuck Noel, and St. Paddy’s Day party take place in the pub

March 17, 24: Kids Apres Ski Party: 3:30-5:00pm: Kids ages 4-12 are welcome to join in this special supervised après ski fun upstairs in the Mount Washington View Room, located on the Heaven Level of the Bretton Woods Base Lodge.  Special après parties are scheduled on most Saturday’s throughout the year and during vacation and holiday periods.  Each party will include live entertainment, games, activities, and refreshments for kids.  Parents are welcome to leave their kids at this supervised program and enjoy entertainment at the Slopeside Lounge.  Reservations are not required for this complimentary program. March 31:  31st Annual Bretton Woods Beach Party & Fujiwhara 4X DH:  As the 2017-18 ski season draws to a close, there’s no better time to sneak in the last few runs of the year while soaking up the sweet springtime sun. Spring skiing, live music, tasty food and great friends make this party a day to remember year after year. There will be plenty of beach themed activities going on so grab the sun screen and wear your beach attire because this Beach Party is sure to keep you rocking from first chair to last call! This year’s theme for the Beach Party is Tropic Love!  From 10:00-2:00pm, catch the Fujiwhara 4X DH, an on-snow, downhill mountain bike race that will be sure to be a treat for both spectators and participants alike! Fridays in March:  Torchlight Snow Tubing at King Pine: Experience the fun of lift-serviced torchlight night snowtubing down exciting snow chutes at our Pine Meadows Tubing Park!

March 17, 24, 31: Say hello to Powder Bear: King Pine’s mascot, Powder Bear, will be out and about offering greetings to young skiers from 2:00-3:00pm.

March 16-17: Cynthia’s Challenge 24-hour Skiathon: Cynthia’s Challenge is excited to announce the next beneficiary of the 24-Hour Ski-A-Thon to be held at King Pine Ski Area in East Madison, New Hampshire March 16-17, 2018. All funds raised with this year’s event will benefit Freedom, New Hampshire’s Jacques Villeneuve, a 9-year-old boy who was born missing the main wiring between the left and right hemispheres of his brain, Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. The minimum requirement is $99 for ages 6 and above and 5 and under are $50. Registration includes a 24-hour lift ticket, t-shirt, dinner, breakfast, and lunch, snacks and memories to last a lifetime of skiing and riding as the sun comes up over King Pine. One raffle ticket will be awarded to participants for every $50 raised above their registration fee. These special raffle tickets will be used for participants to win a grand prize package. March 17: Vertical Challenge: A fun and exciting ski and snowboard race where the racer who clocks the best time in each event category wins Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals. Winners from individual events are invited to return and compete in the Series Finals. The races are FREE, but you must purchase a lift ticket to participate. Tons of great prizes, giveaways and free samples! Registration starts at 8:00am, race starts at 11:00am.

March 24:  Kings Ride Freeride Series Big Air: The King’s Broad Arrow identified the biggest and tallest of the King’s Pines –  and the Freeride series takes that tradition of excellence to new heights in this new, under the lights, three event series in the Twisted Pine Terrain Park.  March 24th marks the Big Air contest.  Info here.

March 25:  King Pine Cardboard Box Derby: Build a cardboard box racer (for two or four racers) with your own theme and bring your own theme music and race down King Pine’s special racecourse. Racers must be built entirely out of cardboard (no wood or metal allowed). Boxes may be held together with tape, glue or stitched. Contestants are encouraged to wear helmets. March 31:  Easter Egg Hunt: Kids 12 and under are invited to meet at the top of the Pokey Pine trail and hunt for Easter Eggs! Easter Eggs can be found all over our Pokey Pine trail beginning at 11 a.m.

Apres Ski at Shawnee Peak

March 16: College Night #5 at Shawnee Peak: Grab your classmates, or your professor if you dare, and Sneak to the Peak from 3:00-9:00pm. Lift Tickets are JUST $20, a savings of $15 and Rentals are JUST $15, a savings of $12! Plus, Open Mic in Blizzard’s Pub for the 21+ crowd afterward.

March 17:  The Mattress Race: Get out your old, beat up mattress and put it to good use!  Design and decorate your old twin, full, double, queen or king, race it down our course and you’ll be eligible for a great prize! The Fastest Mattress will win an overnight stay in the Pleasant Mountain Yurt or Cabin. There is also Shawnee Peak loged prizes for the best, most uniquely-decorated mattress. This years theme is “80 years of Shawnee Peak”. Race starts at 1:00pm.

March 24:  34th Annual Spring Fling: Celebrating the beginning of Spring, the event captures the essence of the season’s skiing and riding – lots of soft snow, live entertainment and lounging on the Blizzard’s Pub party deck, catching rays and enjoying the weather! The Slush Cup (starts at 1:30pm) pits skiers and snowboarders against a 100-foot-long man-made pond of ice cold water. Skim along as far as you can go, before falling victim to the laws of gravity! Register (for free) in guest services until 11:30am. Kids under 18 MUST have a parent or guardian accompany them to sign the liability paperwork.

March 31:  Easter Egg Hunt – Open to all little kids.  Find eggs in the snow by the sugar shack starting at 10:00am.  Bring a basket!

At MWV XC Ski & Snowshoeing Foundation:

Sundays through March: Sunday Snowshoe Yoga Tours: The MWV Ski Touring and Snowshoe Center has added a new offering on Sundays. Every Sunday morning (except 2/25) plan to combine yoga and mindfulness in the spectacular setting of the mountains. The tour begins with some warm-up stretches, preparing for a beautiful snowshoe walk in the woods. Taking the trail at an easy pace, make your way to an open spot to pause for some yoga practice. After the snowshoe walk, end the tour with a few easy stretches. The tour departs every Sunday (weather permitting) from the MWV Touring Center at 10:00 am. Ideal for first-timers and novices interested in learning basic techniques. $25 per person includes trail pass for the day. Discounted rentals available.

March 17: Baxter Outdoors White Mountain Winter Triathlon & 5K Snowshoe Run: Originally scheduled for Jan 6 this race was rescheduled to Sat Mar 17. This professionally designed course has its fair share of ups and downs but those are ultimately overshadowed by sweeping views of the White Mountains and presence in this truly special New England Ski Town. Al (also known as “the Rev”) is a singer/guitarist who’s been pleasing audiences throughout New England for more years than he cares to admit to. He has served as front man for several successful bands and currently performs mostly as a solo artist and also with his backup band, The fabulous Revtones. Many of his performances are centered in the Mount Washington Valley of NH, where he makes his home. The music is classic “songs you know by heart”, sure to stir up happy memories.

March 15: Hiking & Biking in Slovenia lecture: The North Conway Public Library will hold the third of its 2018 Thursday Night Program Series.  Theo & Melanie Stibbons will share their experiences from hiking and biking vacations in Slovenia at 7:00pm at the Weather Discovery Center on Main Street in North Conway Village. March 16: Twisted Pine Band at Stone Mountain Arts Center: Full of energy and surprise, wit and subtlety, Twisted Pine has quickly become one of the most acclaimed young string bands in the Northeast. March 18: African Children’s Choir at Journey Church: The African Children’s Choir will be performing at Journey Church (15 Hutchins Drive in Conway) at 7:00pm.  The program features well-loved children’s songs, traditional spirituals and gospel favorites. March 31:  Story time & Kids Activities at North Conway Library: The North Conway Library will be presenting a monthly, hour-long story time & activities program through the spring for children of all ages, focused on learning about nature through crafts, activities and books. Alice Puccio, education coordinator at AMC in Pinkham Notch, is leading the program, which will be held on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. in the library’s children’s room on 2719 Main St. in North Conway Village. The programs take place on the last Saturday of each month and are free and open for residents & visitors. They are most appropriate for children ages 4 and older; children must be accompanied by an adult. Call (603) 356-2961 or check NorthConwayLibrary.com for more information. On Saturday, March 31: “Animal Tracks” Kids will be read books about animal signs and learn to identify animal tracks and make their own potato print tracks. Then they’ll go outside to practice their new skills.
