1st Annual Waldorf Forest 5k Family Fun Trail Run/Walk

waldorf forest 5kJoin community members for a day of family fun and adventure on Saturday, April 29th with the White Mountain Waldorf School in Albany, New Hampshire at their First Annual Waldorf Forest 5k Family Fun Trail Run. After the races, explore the White Mountain Waldorf School’s 75-acre property, play in an all-ages obstacle course and cheer on your children during a Children’s Fun Run.

All ability levels and ages are welcome to participate in the event. Registration fees are $20 for adults and $10 for children with family discounts available. To register in advance and receive a free t-shirt, please visit RunReg.com/Waldorf-5k-trail-run before April 19th. Same-day registration is also available at 9:30am.

2017 Chili Cook-Off and Feelin’ Good 5K Race

Saturday, April 8th is the time to shake off the winter chills and join us for a fabulous foodie event to kick off our Spring season here in Mt Washington Valley! There will be plenty of chili and cornbread to keep you fueled for a day of fun, festivity, and a 5K race, plus North Conway Village shopping and the event’s  Red Hot Stops where you can find treats and shopping deals.

chili-5k-logoThis is the first year of the Feelin’ Good 5k Race through the White Mountain Milers. Burn some calories before indulging in chili and cornbread samples at the Cook-Off and explore beautiful North Conway Village by running or walking in the race! The race kicks off at Schouler Park in North Conway at 9:30am, where participants will race around the village and near Cranmore Mountain, finishing back at the park. Awards will be given to the top three overall runners and walkers.

The Feelin’ Good 5K is open for registration through White Mountain Milers and the RunReg website. The Race Fee is $35 per person and includes your entry to the Chili Cook-Off, access to the After Party at Abenaki Trail Restaurant, and store discounts at the Red Hot Stops.

About the Annual Chili Cookoff

Hosted by the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, the annual Chili Cook-off has featured the culinary creations of professional chefs, individuals, local organizations, and nonprofits for many years. What started with just a few vendors has now grown to more than 40 vendors. Hundreds of hungry chili fans will fill The Village of North Conway tasting the best of the Valley’s chili recipes.

Professional and non-professional chefs are welcome to register their team for their chance to win fabulous prizes and bragging rights. Chef registration is open and filling up fast! There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available for businesses to promote their brand. Sponsorship packages vary in cost and exposure and there are packages available for nonprofits. chili-cookoff2In this event, ticket holders are judges, too! In purchasing tickets and sampling many delicious chili and cornbread recipes, ticket holders are in control of the “People’s Choice” vote. Ticket holders will receive three different colored tickets for use as ballots – one for Best Chili, one for Best Cornbread, and one for Best Display of Theme.

Tickets for the Chili Cook-Off are $15 for adults and $7 for children, with free admission for children under 3. Interested parties may purchase Early Bird tickets by contacting the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, and tickets will be available on the day of the event for the same prices at the ticket booth.

The Believe in Books Literacy Foundation is hosting their 6th Annual Race for Reading Event, a 5K Trail Run and Kid’s Fun Run this Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, 2015 in the 100 Acre Wood in Intervale, NH. The Race for Reading Event is raising funds for the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s many literacy programs.

Advance registration for the Race for Reading is a $25 donation, or $35 on race day. The 5K trail run starts at 9:30am, rain or shine. The Kids Fun Runs begin at 9:00am and require a $10 donation; the Memorial Hospital Golf Tournament Childhood Initiative will be sponsoring local kids. There will be a 1/2K for ages 8 and under, and a 1K for ages 9-12.  Runners and walkers may register for the runs at http://www.believeinbooks.org. This event is presented by the Medical Staff of the Memorial Hospital with the following sponsors joining them: Story Land, Subway, Poland Spring, Amerigas, Sound Resort, and Coleman. Top prizes include Journey to the North Pole tickets, Story Land Passes, and Children’s Summer Theater tickets.

“This event is a great way to kick off a summer of getting outdoors with the kids to enjoy some fun and physical activity” said Executive Director A.O. Lucy.

This fundraiser is one of many that the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation has created to meet the goals of exercising the body and brains of youngsters with education and engagement of healthy habits. The Literacy Foundation is a Charitable 501(c)(3) Non-Profit guided by the needs and involvement of the communities of which it serves.

The 100 Acre Wood property is located at Observatory Way in Intervale, NH, just two miles north of the Scenic Vista, directly across from Town Hall Road.

Best of NH 2014 for Healthy Horror

Cranmore Mountain Resort, Death Becomes You Productions (creators of the Ghoullog), and Tri Tek Events are pleased to announce the return of Night Terrors “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide” 5k Haunted Run on Saturday, September 27 starting at 7:30pm.  The race was recently awarded Editors Pick in NH Magazine’s Best of NH 2014 for Healthy Horror.

The 3.1 mile course begins at the base area of Cranmore Mountain Resort. The roads of the surrounding community will be transformed with multiple haunt stations featuring the Ghoullog’s favorite characters and scares. All participants will receive a limited edition event t-shirt, glow stick, Jogalite “Froglite” L.E.D. light, and Finisher’s Award. Racers are encouraged to dress in costume.

“We push the envelope each year with the Ghoullog, and are excited to continue this new event to kick off the Halloween season,” says Jim Chichwak of Death Becomes You Productions. “Expect the unexpected as this will be unlike any 5k you’ve ever run before,” he continues.

Newly added to the event this year is the Ghoullog Kick Off Party, held in the Bloody Noose Pub (Zip’s Pub and Grille) starting at 5pm.  The kick off party is open to competitors and the public and will include DJ, full service restaurant and pub offerings, special appearances from the cast of the Ghoullog and Angry Orchard promotion and sampling.

R.I.P. (Runner in Place) Tombstones will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers, best individual and group (6+persons) costume.

Bib pick-up will take place in the pub between 5-7pm the evening of the event. This chip timed event will have racers leave the base area in waves of 50. The first wave will start at 7:30pm. Registration is $50 starting in September. Based on availability, there will be day of race registration for $60 per racer. Participants can register online at www.nightterrors5k.com.

Local Students are invited once again to participate at no cost at the Memorial Hospital Fun Run at Story Land on Monday, Sept. 1st!

Students ages 12 and under who live in Carroll and Coos counties NH and Oxford county ME can receive scholarships through Memorial Hospital and be part of this fun event at no cost. download the entry form and return to Believe in Books Literacy Foundation today!
