Bretton Woods Nordic Center Claims First Tracks in NH

While it was less than wintry south of the Notch, Bretton Woods Nordic Center was a different scene all together as late last week, the first real snowfall of the season allowed it to open this weekend. It claimed honors of being the first and only nordic ski area open in the Granite State.

Winter wonderland leading up to the lodge

Skate grooming approximately 5 kilometers, the Center offered surprisingly pleasant conditions that wound around its golf course and even skirting the woods on its Perimeter trail.

With the striking red-roofed Mount Washington Hotel as a backdrop, the skiing was a winter wonderland, complete with snow in the trees and the snowcapped peak of the rockpile looming large above it. Many delighted skinny skiers were seen circling the trails, getting those first few laps under their belt. Their lodge and ski shop was open and tempting customers with a great selection of nordic gear and wear.

The Center recommends that you call ahead or check their website (http://brettonwoods.com/) as conditions are variable and warmer temps predicted for the remainder of this week may impact operations.

In the meantime, enjoy the remarkable early December conditions and brilliant bluebird skies at Bretton Woods Nordic Center.
