Dining Deals in Mt Washington Valley –March 8-15, 2018

Skiers and riders also need great food, and with 75 or so restaurants in Mt Washington Valley, you’re sure to find something to feed every palate and every age.  As we move into spring skiing season, be sure to feed your appetite for some fabulous sunny days on the slopes and trails.  Best of all, many of Mt Washington Valley’s great restaurants offer deals for skiers and visitors alike.

And we’ve even added some deals on lift tickets and demo equipment to this blog this week, so be sure to read all the way through.

Meals Deals Throughout the winter

At Wild Rose Restaurant, Stonehurst Manor, North Conway, NH

  • Thursday night Candlelight Dinner for Two for $35 – Any two entrees on the menu for $35.  This includes their ultimate Prime Rib, Rack of Lamb, Oven Roasted Salmon and more along with any of their Fresh Pasta Offerings served with fresh Manor-made pasta. A fun way to “sample” some of the Manor offerings is to select the “Pick any two Appetizers as an Entree” option.
  • Friday Night is Pizza Night – Special 3-course dinner is $25 per person and includes salad, a wood-fired signature pizza, tiramisu for dessert and choice of a bottle of domestic beer or glass of house wine.  Diners can choose from one of the Manor pizzas, or they can create their own with up to four toppings.
  • Afternoon Fondue – every Saturday and Sunday, holidays through the end of March and daily during Feb. vacation week – A nice to relax by the over-sized wood-burning fireplace and choose from a classic cheese fondue or one of the other “small bites” which aren’t always so small.
  • Complimentary hors d’oeuvres – served most afternoons in Library Martini Lounge from 5 – 6 pm.

At Max’s Tavern, Snowvillage Inn, Snowville, NH

On Tuesdays: The local flavor comes out every Tuesday 5:30-9:00 PM at Snowvillage Inn: In addition to the daily menu, the locals’ menu is served, offering made from scratch comfort food, priced just right for our local friends. And on Tuesdays, no matter where you’re from, everyone’s a local at Max’s Tavern.

On Thursdays: Max’s In The Raw & the Famous Oyster Orgy! Oysters, Littlenecks, Ceviche and Crudo:  Snowvillage Inn innkeepers, Jen and Kevin, have traveled up and down the coast of Maine in search of the sweetest and largest oysters.  The goldmine is the Damariscotta River….briny, strong shell, plump meat, meaty texture with the true taste of the sea and Snowvillage Inn gets them fresh almost daily! Every Thursday in February: Free Pasta Feed & Music by Kevin Dolan: Back again by popular demand the Thursday Night Free Pasta Feed starts at 5:30 pm and goes until 8:30 with music and fun by Kevin Dolan. FREE for employees of Valley Snow Sports and Ski Shops, AMC and NH Forest Service. (proof of employment required), $5.95 for skiers (bring your lift or trail ticket for that day), $8.95 if you don’t ski but just want to chow down!

March  10, 17, 24, 31: Character Breakfasts at Theater in the Wood: Believe in Books Literacy Foundation presents Character Breakfasts.  Starting Saturday, March 3rd and running every Saturday until April 21st, visit the Theater in the Wood at 9:30 am each Saturday to meet some of your favorite Storybook Characters. Each week combine a tasty pancake breakfast with a new group of friends enjoying their own 100 Acre Wood Maple Syrup. Plus you have use of the 100 Acre Wood Trail System for the entire day!

Mark the Calendar for April 7th: 15th Annual Chili Cookoff and Feel Good 5K: North Conway Community Center will be abuzz with activity of professional and home chefs enticing you with the delightful aromas of their best chili and cornbread recipes. Hourglass Adventures will join this year’s Chili Cookoff offering attendees an opportunity to participate in an escape game designed specifically for the event. Be one of the first to check it out.  Plus, North Conway Village will feature the Red Hot Stops route with many of the shops offering discounts and tastings.

Start the day on the move with the 2nd Annual Feelin’ Good 5K Race sponsored by the White Mountain Milers. Then, move on to a day of tasting chili, cornbread and more.  Judged awards for professional chefs are given for Best Chili with first, second and third places acknowledged. Non-profit and home chefs are awarded People’s Choice Award for Best Chili selected by all tasters who attend the tour. Both categories vie for Best Cornbread and Best Display prizes! Come and vote. After the competition the fun continues with the Chili Cookoff Awards Ceremony at Abenaki Trail Restaurant & Pub. $10 Tuesday Night Skiing and Snowboarding at King Pine! From 4:00-9:00pm, $10 Tuesday night lift tickets, PLUS $10 rentals, $10 terrain park lessons (available starting 1/9), $10 tubing (5-7 p.m.) AND $10 Burger and Beer* at the Trail’s End Tavern are all offered with valid lift ticket. Offer valid on non-holiday Tuesdays and applies to 4-9 p.m. lift tickets. *Must be 21 years of age with valid photo id. Some restrictions apply. Limit one per person.

Every Wednesday throughout February at Red Parka Steakhouse & Pub: Join Jerry every Wednesday in the Pub where he gives away lift tickets to all the great ski areas.  All you must do is be in the Pub between 5:30-8:00.

 Fri/Sat, through March 10th:  $25 Powder & Pasta Night Skiing at Bretton Woods: Ski or ride from 4-8pm on Friday & Saturday nights and then enjoy a pasta dinner, featuring Penne pasta with a classic red Italian sauce or savory white alfredo, topped with your choice of mouth watering meatballs and grilled chicken and garlic bread on the side to finish your night. $25 includes ticket and dinner, through March 10th.

 March 10-11: Military Weekend at Cranmore: During Cranmore’s historic Hannes Schneider Meister Cup, March 10th & 11th, Cranmore will offer free lift tickets for active duty, veteran and retired servicemen and women. Card carrying dependents will receive $15 off a lift ticket.

March 10: 2nd Annual Winter Charity Day: Make a minimum donation of $25 per person ($15 ages 5-12) to the charity of your choice and enjoy free skiing, tubing, snowshoeing and a buffet lunch (11:30 am – 1:00 pm). Kids under 5 participate free with each donating adult. Make a minimum donation of $50 per person ($30 ages 5-12) to the charity of your choice and enjoy free skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, a buffet lunch and a ride on the Mt. Washington SnowCoach to treeline on the Auto Road. The first 32 people who make a $50 donation will receive a SnowCoach ticket for that day. Complete info here.

March 16:  College Night #5 at Shawnee Peak: Grab your classmates, or your professor if you dare, and Sneak to the Peak from 3:00-9:00pm. Lift Tickets are JUST $20, a savings of $15 and Rentals are JUST $15, a savings of $12! Plus, Open Mic in Blizzard’s Pub for the 21+ crowd afterward.

Long Trail Beer Dinner at the White Mountain Hotel

Join Long Trail Brewing Co. and the White Mountain Hotel on Thursday, July 27th at 5pm for a Long Trail Beer dinner. The dinner will feature the culinary wisdom and creativity of Executive Chef Christopher Nelson and the brewing expertise of Long Trail Brewing Co. The theme for this dinner is “A Journey through Vermont.”

2017 Chili Cook-Off and Feelin’ Good 5K Race

Saturday, April 8th is the time to shake off the winter chills and join us for a fabulous foodie event to kick off our Spring season here in Mt Washington Valley! There will be plenty of chili and cornbread to keep you fueled for a day of fun, festivity, and a 5K race, plus North Conway Village shopping and the event’s  Red Hot Stops where you can find treats and shopping deals.

chili-5k-logoThis is the first year of the Feelin’ Good 5k Race through the White Mountain Milers. Burn some calories before indulging in chili and cornbread samples at the Cook-Off and explore beautiful North Conway Village by running or walking in the race! The race kicks off at Schouler Park in North Conway at 9:30am, where participants will race around the village and near Cranmore Mountain, finishing back at the park. Awards will be given to the top three overall runners and walkers.

The Feelin’ Good 5K is open for registration through White Mountain Milers and the RunReg website. The Race Fee is $35 per person and includes your entry to the Chili Cook-Off, access to the After Party at Abenaki Trail Restaurant, and store discounts at the Red Hot Stops.

About the Annual Chili Cookoff

Hosted by the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, the annual Chili Cook-off has featured the culinary creations of professional chefs, individuals, local organizations, and nonprofits for many years. What started with just a few vendors has now grown to more than 40 vendors. Hundreds of hungry chili fans will fill The Village of North Conway tasting the best of the Valley’s chili recipes.

The Many Ways to Enjoy the Day

Professional and non-professional chefs are welcome to register their team for their chance to win fabulous prizes and bragging rights. Chef registration is open and filling up fast! There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available for businesses to promote their brand. Sponsorship packages vary in cost and exposure and there are packages available for nonprofits. For more information, please review the 2017 Chili Cook-Off Sponsorship Packages document or contact the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.

chili-cookoff2In this event, ticket holders are judges, too! In purchasing tickets and sampling many delicious chili and cornbread recipes, ticket holders are in control of the “People’s Choice” vote. Ticket holders will receive three different colored tickets for use as ballots – one for Best Chili, one for Best Cornbread, and one for Best Display of Theme.

Tickets for the Chili Cook-Off are $15 for adults and $7 for children, with free admission for children under 3. Interested parties may purchase Early Bird tickets by contacting the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, and tickets will be available on the day of the event for the same prices at the ticket booth.
