35th Annual Pops Concert and Fireworks Event Presented by Arts Jubilee

Experience Arts Jubilee’s annual family favorite traditional outdoor pops concert on Thursday, July 27th at the base of the North Slope at Cranmore. This year’s concert will feature The Seacoast Wind Ensemble, a 50-piece symphonic band performing pops favorites, light classics, and some familiar Americana. Fireworks will follow the concert, presented by Atlas Pyrotechnics.

This is a family friendly event with convenience parking and indoor restrooms. Food and beverages are available for purchase on the Deck at Zip’s Pub, guests are welcome to pack a picnic lunch. Guests are asked to bring their own seating and to keep alcoholic beverages at home, please. Remember, this is a family event!

Headline performances will begin at 7pm, but guests may enjoy an early “warm-up” performance at 6pm featuring local and professional musicians.

This event has family friendly admission. Adult tickets are $12, seniors (65 & up) are $10, students are $5, and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets and payment will be received at the gate.

New Event Date for the 16th Annual Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament

While the 16th Annual Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament was originally scheduled for Friday, June 16th, Mother Nature had other plans! The rain date for this year’s tournament is Tuesday, July 25th at the North Conway Country Club.

Join the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, golfers near and far, and event sponsors for a day of golfing fun. This tournament is a fun scramble format tournament for golfers of all abilities. Registration for the event opens at 7:45am and runs until 8:50am, with announcements following registration and a shotgun start at 9:00am. There will be 5 hours of play time and a barbecue to follow the fun at 2:00pm. The awards ceremony will begin at 2:45pm.

The card allows entry to various on-course events and includes raffle tickets, mulligans and, NEW this year, the Hole #10 Golf Ball Launcher sponsored by Eastern Propane & Oil to exclusively benefit MWV Leadership scholarship assistance programs. You get to shoot your own ball, hopefully, onto the green 354 yards away.

In addition to awards, and raffles, there are many “Hole-in- One” prizes to win, sponsored by members of the community. Crest Auto World is sponsoring Hole #4, where the first player to hit a hole-in- one will win a 2017 Fiat 500. Profile Power Sports is sponsoring Hole #13, where the first player to hit a hole-in- one will win an ATV. Other Hole-in- One prizes include a set of Titleist Irons, and a $750 Gift Certificate for North Conway Country Club Pro Shop.

“The annual Chamber golf tournament is all about having fun. While we’re all there to play, and improve our handicap, we get to enjoy friends and colleagues, a fantastic course, delicious lunch and a fun event to spend time with Dad,” says Scott Gleason, event coordinator for the tournament.

Golf sponsorship opportunities are open to businesses looking to maximize their exposure in front of the community, with a fit for any budget. Businesses can have its name and logo on tee signs, the golf tournament website and more, depending on what level of participation business owners are interested in.

Children’s Story Time: Lounge and Listen on the Lawn at North Conway Public Library

no co public library.jpgWith children out of school for the summer, it’s a great time to encourage summer reading and learning! Visit the North Conway Public Library Tuesday afternoons July 11th-August 15th for their weekly Children’s Story Time. The story times begin at 2pm every Tuesday and with stories appropriate for children ages 3-8 with siblings welcome.

Weather permitting, the story times will be held outside on the library’s lawn, and will take place inside during inclement weather. The story times are free to residents and visitors and there is no registration necessary to attend. In addition to the story time, there will be games and a free weekly raffle for participating!

The Friends of Jackson Public Library Annual Book Sale

On Saturday, May 27th-Sunday, May 28th, the Friends of Jackson Public Library will host their annual book sale at the Whitney Community Center in downtown Jackson from 10AM-3PM.

friends of the jackson public library.jpgThe book sale is a vital fundraiser for the Friends of the Jackson Library, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit group of community members that help the library through planning, funding and hosting programs to support the library’s book budget, technology upgrades, equipment, and furnishings.

To help with this annual sale, the Friends of Jackson Library will happily accept donations of books throughout the year. They ask that interested donors please bring donations to the library during library hours and to not leave items outside or place them in the library’s book drop.

Accepted items include:

  • Books, hardcover and paperback, in good condition.
    No musty, mildewy or moldy books, please!
  • Audio Books on CD only
  • Videos on DVD or Blu-ray only

They cannot accept:

  • Magazines
  • Textbooks of any kind
  • Encyclopedias or dictionaries
  • Condensed books or self-help books
  • VHS tapes and cassette tapes

28th Annual Chocolate Festival

On Sunday, February 26th join us for the sweetest day on the trails at the 28th Annual Chocolate Festival! Spend a day of outdoor winter fun and indulge in sweet treats to benefit the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring Foundation, a non-profit organization. The foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to providing Conway residents, taxpayers, and school age children with access to winter recreation opportunities including snowshoeing and Nordic skiing at no cost.

Whether traveling through the trail stops by cross country ski, snowshoe, or by car, participants will enjoy the spectacular scenery, warm hospitality, and great chocolate treats of the Mount Washington Valley. For those that choose to cross country ski or snowshoe, unleash your inner winter adventurer by embarking on our groomed 45-km trail network!

The Met Coffee House Supports Pink Week

The Metropolitan Coffee House is on of many North Conway Village businesses supporting the “Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk and fundraiser that will take place in October. They are proud to be partner of the 2012 fundraiser for the research for the breast cancer.

In an effort to raise the $5,000 needed to sponsor this well-known walk and the organization behind it, The American Cancer Society

The Met will be featuring Pink Week
August 24 – September 3,2012

The MET will offer a variety of new products, distinguished by the well know color pink, such as pink T-shirts, pink Cupcakes, pink Gelato and pink Thermos’.

The proceeds from the sale of these products will be entirely donated to the cause. You can stop by and buy one of their new Pink products, or just provide a little donation. Thank you for your help!
