Day Out With Thomas™ Friendship Tour 2017 at Conway Scenic Railroad

Spend a day with Thomas™ July 21-23 & July 28-30 at the Conway Scenic Railroad at their Day Out With Thomas™ family event. Passengers take a ride with the classic storybook engine, Thomas the Tank Engine™ at the Conway Scenic Railroad at their largest summer event.

This year, Percy will return to the railroad during the event and there will be two special “Autism-Friendly” trains this year, with controlled environments suited for families with children that are sensitive to noise.

After their venture, each child passenger will receive a Junior Engineer’s Certificate, coloring sheets, and crayons from the Imagination Station. “Frodo the Walking Tank”, a large Sulcata Tortoise will be a passenger on the train to meet with guests.

Tickets are $20 for ages two and up on Fridays and on Saturday and Sunday with 9:00AM, 2:00PM, and 3:00PM Thomas departures. Event ticks for any other Thomas departures are $22 per person. Rides with Percy are an additional $8 per person on any event day and time. The Conway Scenic Railroad asks interested ticket holders and current ticket holders to please read what’s included in their ticket prices and to plan for enough time to visit the area so you can enjoy all that the Conway Scenic Railroad the the Mt. Washington Valley has to offer for family fun!

Holiday Train Rides at Conway Scenic Railroad

The Conway Scenic Railroad is ‘geared’ up for the Holiday Vacation Season! Starting December 26th and ending January 1st, their old-fashioned train rides will be offered twice daily. The train will depart from North Conway at the Conway Scenic Railroad Station for an 11-mile, 55-minute roundtrip Conway excursion. This trip is perfect for visitors seeking a shorter train ride and is great for young children. See the sights of the Moat Mountain Range, Valley farmlands, Moat Brook, the Saco and Swift Rivers, as well as charming Conway Village.

The first daily departure is scheduled at 11:30am and the second at 1:30pm. Visitors can choose from coach, first class, and dome riding options. The prices are as follows:

Mount Washington Cog Railway Photo Workshop Series Starts June 10

The Mount Washington Cog Railway, famous for climbing the highest peak in the Northeast, is kicking off the first in a series of photo workshop tours on Monday, June 10.

This full day excursion open to all skill levels includes a round trip ticket to the summit, instructional sessions with a professional photographer and free admission to the Mount Washington Observatory Museum. Opportunities abound at the base, from the train and
at the summit to shoot everything from dramatic landscapes to historic locales to nature
and wildlife.
The instructor will tailor the workshop to cover the interests of those attending.
“We expect these workshops to be very popular, because they give people who love taking pictures an opportunity to experience a part of Mount Washington that is truly unique,” said Cathy Bedor, one of the owners of the Cog.

Conway Scenic Railroad Announces 5th Annual “Autumn Express”

Sunday, October 21, will mark the end of Conway Scenic Railroad’s Notch Train service for the 2012 season with a special fundraising excursion, the 5th Annual Autumn Express.  Hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Washington Valley, this trip will benefit local children’s charities supported by the club, and the public is invited to participate.

The train departs from the North Conway station at 11:00 a.m. and returns at approximately 4:00 p.m. Included in the excursion is an hour’s layover at Crawford Station, which is across from Saco Lake (the small pond from which the Saco River originates) and adjacent to the AMC’s Highland Center. Passengers are encouraged to get off the train, stretch their legs, and explore their beautiful surroundings.

Fares: Coach $50.00; First Class $65.00. Included in these fares are complimentary appetizers, desserts, and a souvenir photo.   Passengers have the option of ordering a delicious box lunch prepared by Chef’s Market for $12.00, bringing their own picnic lunch, or ordering from the train’s onboard snack bar.

For those wanting a truly elegant lunch option, the Dining Car The Hattie Evans is part of the First Class Notch Train Package that includes First Class seating and a delicious 3-course luncheon, as well as beverage service, complimentary appetizers, desserts, and a souvenir photo. The First Class Package is $90.00 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuities.  Beverages are additional.   Seating is limited, and advance reservations are recommended.  The event sold out last year.
