In a recent survey, 53 percent of smartphone owners said they access email on their device several times day. In addition, 74 percent have accessed Facebook from their smartphone.¹ How to use these features on smartphones are two of the most common questions that U.S. Cellular store associates hear. Devices such as the iPhone 6 and iPad Air make it easy to stay connected to friends, family and business, and U.S. Cellular wants to show North Conway residents the tips and tricks that make using these features fast and easy.

Pumpkin People at Eagle Mountain House!

“Come visit Shrek and Fiona at the Eagle Mountain House and Golf Club.  All part of the Shrek and Fiona get Married at Eagle Mountain House!annual Jackson, NH Pumpkin People Event, Shrek and Fiona are having their wedding last all month.

Get your picture taken with them, post on Facebook with Eagle Mountain House and win a free logo golf ball.

Help the Jackson Chamber of Commerce celebrate the 25th year of the “Return of the Pumpkin People”… this is the year you want to come and experience this event. There will be close to 100 displays for your enjoyment.

It is hard to believe back in 1987 the quintessential New England villages of Intervale, Glen, Bartlett, Hart’s Location and Jackson came up with the idea of Pumpkin People displays to help get visitors interested in the area. They had about 15 properties involved. That is far less than the average number of 50 we have been fortunate to have over the last few years.

The process of putting together a display is time consuming and, depending upon the properties vision, can take on a financial investment. Each property works hard to put up their display and they deserve the recognition that comes with being a part of the event. When visiting be sure to tell the host properties you appreciate their effort… we certainly do.

Return of the Pumpkin people is a self-guided tour where you use the official Return of Pumpkin People Map indicating what properties are official host properties. Maps will be available at participating properties and or can be printed off the front page of this website as wall as participating property websites!

Family Fun

Halloween may be filled with ghosts and goblins, but like Casper they don’t have to be too scary. Mt Washington Valley certainly offers its share of “scare-the-pants-off” fun, but alongside are plenty of family-friendly events meant for all ages. Here are five family-friendly events to which you won’t be afraid to bring any size kid or adult.

5th Annual Halloween Town at Camp Tohkomeupog  October 25:  For those in rural areas the chance to “trick-or-treat” is somewhat limited where houses are few and far between, so starting at 3:00pm Camp Tohkomeupog in East Madison, NH is transformed into a Halloween happening kind of place. There will be a food court, bouncy house, face painting and kid carnival games. The “Halloweenie Walk” is designed for younger children. Older children will enjoy the Trick or Treat Trail from 4:00-8:00pm with a little more adventurous route; flashlights and appropriate footwear are recommended. Walking the ‘Trick-or-Treat Trail’ at Halloween Town has become known as a safe, entertaining way for kids to celebrate the holiday.  This event benefits the Laura Foundation for Autism and Epilepsy. Info: http://halloweentown.thelaurafoundation.org/.

Return of the Pumpkin People, October 1-31: Nearly 75 businesses throughout Mt Washington Valley will create “pumpkin people” displays, each utilizing at least one pumpkin in a sometimes scary but mostly whimsical display to celebrate Halloween.  This year the tour has been extended throughout the entire month of October. Maps and “People’s Choice” ballots will be available at all participating properties and at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce in Jackson Village.  Don’t forget to vote for your favorite for the People’s Choice Award.  Info: http://www.jacksonnh.com/event/81/Return-of-the-Pumpkin-People.

October 18, 25: Silly Spooky Halloween Extravaganza at Santa’s Village: Santa is busy gearing up for the holidays, so he’s left the park to the Silly Nilly Witch of the North, who will be on board to stir up her own spooky brew and some Halloween fun. Rides and food shops will be open too. It’s silly. Admission for the entire day is $24.00 per person. This includes all the rides and festivities for the day.
